Butter Crunch

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks of butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp. corn syrup
  • 2 tbsp. water
  • 1 1/2 cups sliced almonds
  • 12 oz chocolate

You will also need a candy thermometer



toast almonds in the oven -about 5 min, on a cookie sheet, at 350.

melt butter and sugar in a pan on the stovetop. bring to a boil, stirring constantly.

add corn syrup and water.

still stirring constantly bring to 300 degrees (hard crack).

stir in 1/2 c of toasted almonds

spread on cookie sheet

spread 1/2 of the chocolate on top on the corn syrup/almond mixture. If you use small pieces of chocolate, it with melt from the heat of the corn syrup mixture. Otherwise melt chocolate in microwave then spread.

sprinkle 1/2 c of almonds on chocolate.

allow to harden.

turn over.

melt remaining chocolate and spread over hardened piece.

sprinkle remaining almonds on chocolate.

allow to harden.

break apart and enjoy?
