Mamie Eisenhower's Million Dollar Fudge

Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 large can evaporated milk
  • pinch of salt
  • 12 oz (2 cups) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 12 oz (3 packages) German Sweet Chocolate
  • 1 pint marshmallow cream
  • 2 Tbs butter
  • 2 cups chopped nuts

Preparation

Step 1

Measure out all your ingredients and butter a 13 x 11 inch pan. Put the chocolate, butter and marshmallow cream in a large bowl.

Combine the sugar, evaporated milk and salt in a large saucepan. Using medium heat bring to a rolling boil. STIRRING CONTINUOUSLY. May have to lower the heat after bringing to a boil. NEVER stop stirring. This mixture will burn easily. I use a wooden spoon with a flat edge so I can scrape the bottom continuously. After bringing to a rolling boil, time 7 1/2 minutes. Remove from heat.

Pour the mixture over the butter, marshmallow cream and chocolate. Beat by hand until all is melted and blended well. Fold in the nuts. Pour into the buttered pan, smooth it out and let cool for 6 or more hours before cutting.

Let it cool overnight before cutting.
