Classic Vanilla Buttercream

A sweet and smooth classic vanilla buttercream frosting recipe.

Ingredients

  • 4 sticks of unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 bag (7-8 cups) powdered sugar
  • 4 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup + heavy cream or whole milk

Preparation

Step 1

1. In a stand mixer or a hand-held mixer, cream the butter until smooth.

2. Slowly add in powdered sugar until incorporated.

3. Add vanilla and salt. Add milk 1 tbsp at a time until desired consistency is reached.

4. Store at room temperature in an airtight container.
