Ingredients
- 1 3/4 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 c. rolled oats
- (1/2 c. coconut)
- 1 pkg. chocolate chips
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 c. boiling water
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
Step 1
Combine flour, salt, rolled oats and if you wish the coconut. Cream shortening and gradually blend in brown sugar. Cream well. Dissolve baking soda into the boiling water. Gradually stir in creamed mixture, add vanilla. Add flour gradually. Mix well after each addition. Gently stir in the chocolate chips. Drop dough in small spoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 F for 12 - 15 minutes.
