Julia Cookies

A favorite of mine growing up, I have never had another cookie quite like it.

Ingredients

• 1 c shortening or unsalted butter
• 1/2 c brown sugar
• 1/2 c sugar
• 1 egg
• 1/4 tsp salt
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 1 tsp cream of tartar
• 2 c flour
• 1 tsp vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Cream together sugars, egg, butter or shortening and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients and add them to creamed mixture.

Roll dough into 1-inch balls, dipping the top of each ball into water then granulated sugar. lace sugar-side up on baking sheet, bake at 375 for 10 minutes.
