    Tsp White Pepper

  • 1/2

    Cup Barley

  • 6

    Cups Water

  • 2

    Medium Carrots

  • 1

    Stalk of Celery

Directions

DIRECTIONS 1 Rinse and drain peas. Add to a large pot with 6 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Add broth, onion, garlic, lemon, salt, sugar, parsley, and pepper. Cook for 1 1/4 hours or until peas are soft. 2 While peas are cooking put 6 cups of water in another pot with barley. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to a simmer and cook barley for 1 1/4 hours or until barley is soft and most of the water has been absorbed. Drain barley. 3 Add barley to peas 4 Add carrots and celery and cook for another 20 minutes or until carrots are soft. 5 Turn off heat and let stand 10 minutes before serving.
