Ingredients

  • 7 1/2 c flour
  • 1 pkg yeast
  • 1/2 c lukewarm water
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 1/2 c butter
  • 3 eggs (room temperature)
  • 2 t salt
  • 1 1/2 c warm milk
  • 1 T water

Preparation

Step 1

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Soften butter, add to warm milk. Stir in salt and sugar. Mix in yeast. Add 2 eggs. Mix in 2 1/2 c flour. Add another 2 1/2 c flour. Use remaing flour on board while kneading. Grease bowl, add dough, cover with towel and rise 1 hr. Grease 2 large cookie sheets. Punch down center of dough. Knead, cut in half, braid dough and cover with wax paper & towel. Sit for 50 mins. Mix egg and water, Brush bread - 350 30 mins.
