Ingredients
- 2 1/2 C Water
- 3/4 C Butter (real butter)
- 2 C plus 2 Tbs White Cornmeal
- 1/2 C (Scant) Sugar
- 1 Tbs Salt
- 1 1/2 Tsp Baking Powder
- Oil For Deep Frying
Preparation
Step 1
Combine water and butter and bring to a rolling boil over high heat. Blend dry ingredients in medium bowl. Remove butter from heat and fold in dry ingredients. Let stand until cool enough to handle. Form into 2-inch balls, then roll into sticks.
Heat oil to 350 degrees. Add puppies in small amounts and fry, turning once, until browned (about 2 minutes per side). Keep oil temperature constant. Drain on paper towels. Serve Hot.
