Mom's Creamy Coleslaw

This is a basic and delicious coleslaw with a little lemon juice and vinegar.

MY NOTES: Make half of this recipe or the two of us will be eating coleslaw till the cows come home!

Ingredients

  • 1 large head cabbage, shredded
  • 2 small carrots, shredded
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons sugar, or to taste
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup half-and-half or cream

Preparation

Step 1

Combine the shredded cabbage and carrots in a large bowl; toss with the celery seeds.

Combine the remaining ingredients and pour over the cabbage. Toss to blend ingredients. Cover and refrigerate until serving time.
