Ingredients

  • 4 large tart apples peeled cored and chopped
  • 1 T lemon juice
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 1/4 c packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c chopped walnuts
  • 2 T wuick cooking tapioca
  • 1/2 t cinnamon
  • 1/4 t nutmeg
  • pastry for double crust pie 9 inch

Preparation

Step 1

in a bowl toss apples with lemon juice
combine the sugars, nuts, tapioca, cinnamon and nutmeg-add to apples and toss to coat. Let stand 15 minutes
line a 9 in pie plate with bottom pastry-trim even with edge
add apple mixture-dot with butter
place top crust on-trim, seal and flute edges
cut slits in the top-cover edges loosely with foil
bake at 400 for 40-45 mins or till crust is brown and filling is bubbly
cool on wire rack
