Italian Focaccia Sandwich
By Addie
Ciao! Don't miss this Italian favorite! Sure, lots of restaurants serve it, but now we can make it at home for a lot less money - and with all our own favorite flavors. (MR FOOD)
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 round Focaccia, sliced horizontally
- 1 pound thinly sliced deli mortadella (sliceable Italian sausage)
- 1 package (6 ounces) sliced mozzarella cheese
- 3 tablespoons prepared yellow mustard
- Cooking spray
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.
Spread the mayonnaise over half of the focaccia. Layer the mortadella over the mayonnaise then top with the mozzarella. Spread the mustard over the top slice of the focaccia.
Place on a pizza pan that has been coated with cooking spray. Cover loosely with foil. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until the crusts are crispy - but no TOO crispy - and the cheese is melted. Cut into pieces and serve.
Notes:
Make sure to use focaccia that has ingredients like olive oil, garlic, Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses baked onto it.
A little Italian vinaigrette can be added to the sandwiches.
