Apple Dumplings

  • 1 stick butter, cut into 1/2" cubes
  • 1/4 t salt
  • 1 c brown sugar
  • 1/2 t ground cinnamon
  • 4 small baking apples, peeled, cored
  • & halved lengthwise
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream



Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 deg. Using food processor, pulse flour, butter & salt until coarse crumbs form. Sprinkle 1/2 c water on dough and pulse to blend. Divide dough into 4 equal pieces and flatten. Wrap each one in plastic & refrigerate (30 mins). Roll each disk into 9" round. Combine brown sugar & cinnamon. Place half apple, cut side up, in center. Fill with 1/4 of cinnamon mix. Top with other half apple. Pull dough and pinch together.

Place dumplings, seam side down in lightly greased baking dish and bake until lightly golden, about 1 hour. Transfer to plates and spoon any syrup from the dish over the apples. Serve warm with ice cream.
