Sausages in ale for crockpot

Ingredients
- 3 t canola oil
- 8 sweet Italian sausages or half sweet and half hot
- 3 C Vidalia onions sliced
- 1/2 bell pepper cut in strips
- 1/2 c diced celery
- 2 T tomato paste
- 1 can beer or ale
- 2 bay leaves
- kosher salt and pepper

Preparation
Step 1
heat 1 T oil in large non stick skillet over med heat
add sausage and brown on all sides-drain and blot with paper towels
add rest of oil to skilet-add onion and green pepper and saute 10 mins till onions are browned
remove from heat and stir in tomato paste salt pepper and beer
spoon half the mixture into crockpot
top with sausages, bay leaves and remaining vegetable mixture
cook on low 4 hours
remove bay leaves
