Scary witch cake is fun to make. Change up her face with the added licorice and rollups to your liking - give her a smile, or a mean look - your choice! Give her purple hair!

  • SUPPLIES:
  • 1 package cake mix (any flavor), plus ingredients to prepare mix
  • 2 (16-ounce) containers vanilla frosting
  • Green food coloring
  • Black decorating gel
  • Black food coloring
  • Red string licorice
  • 1 sugar ice cream cone
  • Red fruit roll up cutouts
  • 1 (15x10 inch) cake board, covered, or large tray
  • Pastry bag and medium star tip
  • 1 witch's black hat

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Grease and flour 13x9 inch baking pan.

Prepare cake mix according to package directions; pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 30-35 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean

Cool in pan on wire cooling rack 10 minutes. Remove cake from the pan to the cooling rack. Cool completely.

Place cake on cake board. Spread top and sides of cake with 1 container of frosting.

Color half of remaining container of frosting with green food coloring.

Trace outline of head onto cake with a toothpick. Fill face with green frosting; outline with black decorating gel.

Color remaining frosting with black food coloring. Spoon the black frosting into pastry bag fitter with star tip; pipe frosting around edges of cake.

Cut witch hat in half lengthwise. Place half on cake; discard remaining

Decorate face as shown in photo with the licorice, ice cream cone and cut outs from red fruit roll ups.
