Angel Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 2 T sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 T baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 stick butter
  • 3/4 cup milk

Preparation

Step 1

In small bowl, sprinkle yeast over water. Stir in sugar. Set aside until foamy, about 10 minutes. In bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. With pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add yeast mixture and milk. Mix lightly with fork until combined. Cover with cloth and let rise until double in size, about 30 minutes. Grease large baking sheet. On lightly-floured surface, roll out dough to 1/2 inch thickness. With 3-inch round cutter, cut our 12 biscuits. Place on greased sheet. With tines of fork, pierce lightly a few times. Let biscuits rise 45 minutes. Heat oven to 375 and bake 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
