Betty's Stem Tray

Preparation

Step 1

Take 2 quart saucepan with lid and pour the chicken broth in it. Bring it to a boil and added the cabbage diced up first, then potatoes, then onion, then the package of fresh vegs (celery, brocoli, cauliflower & baby carrots) everything diced up and let it cook with lid on so vegs would get done. salt and pepper it, added garlic salt and keep stirring it from the bottom of the pan.

When all is tender, pour into big frying pan and add the package of frozen mixed vegs and stirred good and add the kilbasa, diced up. Taste it occasionally and added a bit more garlic salt and pepper. Then slice the butter in pats all over the top, put the lid on and let it simmer about 20-25 minutes on low.

This makes more of a great stew where as Bettys had bigger chunks of vegs to eat and is just as good.

Actually it is supposed to be baked on a sheet cake pan. You put a huge piece of aluminum foil on the pan, long enough to close up on top. Then you put all fresh vegetables in it in chunks, pour at least a cup of chicken broth over it and put pats of butter all over the top. Season with season salt, garlic powder (I used garlic salt) salt and pepper. Bake in the oven about an hour or hour and a half till vegs are tender. Open the foil and eat.

You can get Kilbasa in a ring like balogna and slice it off all over it. I used a pack of the weiner size and cut each one in half and then again in slices so get plenty all through it.
