ZINFANDEL DARK CHOCOLATE CAKE (From Dunning Vineyards)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1-3/4 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup Hershey's Natural
  • Unsweetened cocoa
  • 1-1/2 tsps baking powder
  • 1-1/2 tsps baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • ___________________________
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1-1/2 tsps vanilla extract

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Spray a 13 x 9 pan with non-stick spray.

In a large mixer bowl combine the first 6 dry ingredients. Then add the remaining ingredients to the bowl.

Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.

Combine 2/3 cup water and 1/3 cup Zinfandel wine and microwave until it comes to a boil. Add to the bowl and stir well. Batter will be thin.

Pour into prepared pan and bake 25 - 35 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Dust with powdered sugar.

No need for frosting as this cake is rich and moist.
