Ingredients
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 4 egg yolks
- 8 1-oz. squares semisweet chocolate, chopped (I substituted 8oz. Ghirardelli milk chocolate chips)
- 1 tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
Preparation
Step 1
In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, cocoa and salt. In a medium bowl, combine milk, cream, and egg yolks, whisking until smooth. Add milk mixture to sugar mixture, whisking until smooth. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly, for 3 to 4 minutes, or until mixture is thickened. Remove from heat; add chocolate, butter and vanilla, stirring until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth. Spoon pudding into a medium bowl; place plastic wrap directly on warm pudding (to prevent film from forming). Chill for at least 3 hours before serving. (Makes about 4 servings.)
