Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs 1/4sour milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground nutmeg
- Jam. Any kind
Preparation
Step 1
350 degrees
Cream shortening and sugars
Add eggs milk and vanilla and beat till smooth
Stir rest of ingredients together and add to creamed mixture
Mix till smooth
Cover and chill
Roll dough to 1/8 thickness and cut into 11/2 inch circles
Put a tsp jelly in center of each and top with second round.
Seal edges with fork
Cut X,s in tops of each
Bake to golden 10 to 15 minutes
