Sour Cream Sugar Cookies 0 Picture


  • 1 c shortening
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 c (8oa) sour cream
  • 1-1/2 t vanilla extract
  • 4 c flour
  • 1-1/2 t baking soda
  • 1/4 t salt
  • 1 c butter softened
  • 9 c powdered sugar
  • 3 t vanilla extract
  • 2/3-3/4 c cup milk
  • paste food coloring



Step 1

In large bowl cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg, sour cream and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour or until ease to handle.
On a lightly floured surface roll dough to 1/4 inch thick. Cut with a floured 3 inch cookie cutter.
Place 1 inch apart on baking sheets lightly coated with cooking spray. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until set. Cool 1 minute before removing to wire racks.
For frosting in large bowl cream butter until light and fluffy. Beat in powdered sugar and vanilla. Add enough milk to achieve desired consistency. Tint with food coloring. Decorate cookies as desired.
