Easy as Pie Cake

By

I just made this cake and had a big piece. Wonderful! I am particularly impressed with the fact that it does not contain oil in the recipe, and it doesn’t even need it. It took me less than five minutes to have it in the oven. So easy! This is my “Go to” recipe forever! I can’t wait to try the other cakes that you suggested. Thanks for posting this great time-saving and tasty recipe!

I made it this time with the dark chocolate mix and cherry pie filling. OMG....soooooo goooooood!

Ingredients

  • 1 box cake mix, any flavor
  • 3 large eggs beaten
  • 1 can pie filling, any flavor

Preparation

Step 1

1. In bowl, dump dry cake mix, eggs and pie filling. Stir together until well mixed.

2. Bake in greased 9x13, 350 degrees for 35 minutes or test with toothpick for doneness.

FLAVORS:
Pair flavors of cake mix and pie filling. Apple filling with maybe butter pecan cake mix. Cherry pie filling with a devil's food cake mix, etc. I enjoy a pineapple cake mix with blueberry filling.

FOR AN EXTRA INCH TO THE HIPS:
Chop room temperature cream cheese into chunks. Poke the chunks randomly into the batter after pouring it in the baking pan, making sure the cheese is in deep. Bake as directed. I do this with a strawberry cake mix and strawberry filling and also the blueberry filling.

I have a cake recipe that is MY Go-To cake recipe. It’s the Moist Cake Recipe of mine. Take any plain old cake mix (no pudding-in-the-mix) and make as directed but add 1 Cup Buttermilk and a small box of instant pudding mix to the batter. I use a pudding mix flavor that matches the cake flavor…like Pumpkin Spice Pudding mix with the spice cake, or Butterscotch pudding mix with the spice cake mix….etc. A real good one is the strawberry cake mix with a cheesecake pudding mix….and a cherry cake mix with a pistachio pudding mix. Make SURE THE PUDDING MIX IS INSTANT. Add raisins, walnuts, etc. to a spice cake then and it’s delicious.
