Breakfast Side: Hash Brown Casserole

A take on Cracker Barrel's version

Ingredients

  • 26 ounce bag of frozen hash browns
  • 2 cups shredded colby cheese
  • 1/4 cup minced onion
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup beef stock or broth
  • 2 tbs. butter, melted
  • dash garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. ground black pepper

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

Combine hash browns, cheese and onion in a large bowl. Mix milk, broth, half the melted butter, garlic powder, salt, black pepper in another bowl. Pour mixture over hash browns, mix.

Heat remaining butter in large skillet over high heat. Cook hash brown mixture until all cheese has melted (7 minutes).

Pour into greased casserole dish and bake 45-60 minutes until slightly browned on top.
