Hot Brown Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. white pepper
  • 1 cup turkey broth or chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 8 slices bread, toasted
  • Sliced turkey
  • Paprika
  • 8 slices tomato
  • 8 slices bacon, cooked
  • Parsley

Preparation

Step 1

Melt butter, and stir in flour; cook over low heat, blending until smooth. Stir in salt and pepper. Gradually add broth and milk; cook, stirring constantly, until smooth and thickened. Add cheese; simmer about 10 minutes. (Sauce will be thick)
Place 2 slices toast on each of 4 ovenproof plates. Place turkey on each slice of toast; cover with sauce, and sprinkle with paprika.
Top each with 1 slice tomato and 1 slice bacon.
Bake at 400 for 10 minutes or until sauce is bubbly.
Garnish with parsley.
