Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons solid vegetable shortening
- 3/4 cup finely chopped nuts
- 12 snack size Milkway bars
- 1 cup buttermilk, Plain yogurt or sour cream
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine
- 1-1/2 cups water
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 4 eggs
- 2-1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
Preparation
Step 1
Generously grease a 12-cup bundt pan or 10-cup tube pan with shortening, coat pan with nuts. Over low heat, melt candy bars with 1/4 cup buttermilk, stirring frequently until smooth. Beat together butter and sugar untll light and fluffy, blend in vanilla. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Add combined flour, salt and baking soda alternately with remaining 3/4 cup buttermilk, mixing just until dry ingredients are moistened. Blend in candy bar mixture, spoon into prepared pan. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven 55-60 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in pan, invert onto wire rack and remove from pan. Cook completely.
