Fresh Pizza Sauce

Ingredients

  • 6 vine tomatoes
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 sweet yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp. basil, dried
  • 1 1/2 tsp. oregano, dried
  • 1 tsp. Italian seasoning, dried
  • 3/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 1/4 tsp. potassium salt
  • 2 tbsp. unsweetened apple sauce
  • fresh ground pepper, to taste (about 1/2 - 1 tsp.)
  • 1/4 cup no-salt tomato paste

Preparation

Step 1

1. Water sautee garlic and onions in saucepan until tender.

2. Puree tomatoes in high-powered blender. Transfer to saucepan with garlic and onions.

3. Add remaining ingredients. Cover, bring to a boil, then simmer on lowest setting (slightly covered) for about 2 - 2 1/2 hours until mixture thickens. Stir every 20 minutes or so.
