CHOCOLATE PECAN-PIE BARS

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 square (1 oz) semisweet chocolate
  • 3 beaten eggs
  • 1-1/4 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsps bourbon or water
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

In a mixing bowl stir together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and cinnamon. Cut in the ½ cup butter till mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Stir in pecans. Press into bottom of an ungreased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.

Meanwhile, in a small saucepan combine the ¼ cup butter and chocolate; heat and stir over low heat till chocolate is melted.

In a small mixing bowl combine the eggs, brown sugar, bourbon or water, and vanilla. Stir mixture until well blended; pour over crust. Return to oven.

Bake 20 minutes more or until set. Cool on wire rack. Cut into bars. Makes 36.
