Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream II

Ingredients

  • 2 cans evaporated milk
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 pinches of salt
  • 1 quart half and half
  • 1 quart whipping cream
  • 2 Tablespoons vanilla extract

Preparation

Step 1

Open canned milk and scald in microwave-safe dish in microwave (This means heat just until it starts to simmer, then stop.)

Stir the hot scalded milk, sugar, and salt together until dissoslved. Cool.

Add half & half, whipping cream, and vanilla extract. Let "age" overnight in refrigerator, covered.

Freeze in ice cream maker.
