Classic Butter cream icing (stiff)

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup solid shortening
  • 1 tsp flavoring (butter, vanilla etc)
  • 2 TBS water
  • 1 lb powdered sugar (about 4 cups)
  • 1 TBS meringue powder
  • pinch of salt (optional)

Preparation

Step 1

Cream shortening, flavoring and water. Add dry ingredients and mix on medium speed until mixed well. Blend until creamy. Color as desired, add more water a few drops at a time to thin to desired consistency.
