Ingredients
- 2 Tbs yeast
- 1/2 c warm water
- 2 c hot water
- 3 Tbs sugar
- 1 Tbs salt
- 5 Tbs shortening or oil
- 6 c flour
- 1 egg white
- sesame seeds
Preparation
Step 1
1. Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cups warm water.
2. In large bowl combine hot water, sugar, salt, shortening, and 3 cups flour. Stir in dissolved yeast. Add remaining 3 cups flour. Leave spoon in batter and let rise 10 minutes, stir vigorously, allow to rise more 10 minutes, then repeat until dough has been stirred 5 times.
3. On floured boarad, turn out and knead once or twice until lightly covered with flour. Divide dough into rectangle about 9x12 inches. Start at long end and roll loosely (like jelly roll)- pinching edges. Place roll lightwise- seam side down on baking sheet. Dash top of bread diagonally with sharp knife 3 times. Brush top with beaten egg white. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Let rise 30 minutes.
4. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 - 30 minutes.
