Ingredients

  • 125 ml water
  • 60 ml soy sauce
  • 2 tblspn clear honey
  • 2 tspn grated fresh root ginger
  • 1 tspn sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic crusged
  • 500 g beef fillet cut in strips
  • 2 tblspn sunflower oil
  • 185 g mushrooms sliced
  • 1 red pepper cut in thin strips
  • 8 canned water chesnuts thinly sliced
  • 100 g mangetout

Preparation

Step 1

1. Combine water, soy sauce, honey ginger, sesame oil and garlic in a large shallow dish. Agg beef strips and stir until well coated. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours. Drain beef strips, reserving marinade.
2. Preheat wok, add oil. When hot, add beef stripsand stir fry over over high heat for 2 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, transfer beef strips to a bowl. Set aside.
3. Reheat oil in wok, add mushrooms, pepper, water chesnuts and mangetout and stir fry for 3 minutes over high heat.
4. Add reserved marinade and bring to the boil, stirring until sauce thickens. Return beef strips to wok and heat through, stirring, Serve at once.
