Pasta with Hearty Meat Sauce

Ingredients

  • 12 oz. lean ground beef
  • 12 oz. ground pork or Italian sausage
  • 1/4 cup finely diced onion
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoon beef bouillon granules
  • 2 cans (28oz.) crushed tomatoes in puree
  • 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning mix
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 lb. uncooked pasta such as rigatoni or penne

Preparation

Step 1

1. In a large saucepan, cook ground beef and pork over medium-high heat until no longer pink, breaking into crumbles (do not brown). Drain. Add onion; cook and stir 4-5 minutes or until onions are tender. Add milk and bouillon; cook and stir until milk is evaporated, about 5 minutes. Add tomatoes, seasoning and sugar. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to medium-low and simmer 1 hour, stirring occasionally.


2. Meanwhile, in another large saucepan, cook pasta according to package directions. Drain. Add sauce to pasta; stir to coat. Serve immediately.
