- 18 large mushroom caps (save stems for another use)
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- Salt to taste
- Freshly-ground black pepper to taste
- 6 slices bread crusts removed, sauteed golden brown in butter
Brush both sides of mushroom caps with melted butter and arrange them rounded-side down in a large baking dish. Place them under a medium broiler flame for 4 minutes, turn them over, and broil for another 4 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
Pace 3 mushrooms on each of the browned slices of bread on a hot serving platter.
