Spanish Teacher's Smokey Baked Beans

By

MY NOTES - I use one 28-oz can of BUSH'S Original Beans! I use barbecue sauce instead of ketchup. Also, DRAIN the beans and add one tablespoon cornstarch (whisk it in until dissolved) and then re-mix with the beans. This makes for a nice, thick, sauce. PERFECT!

Ingredients

  • 2 (16 oz.) cans pork and beans (use BUSH'S original beans)
  • 2 T. barbecue sauce or ketchup
  • 3-4 slices bacon, cut into small pieces
  • 2 T. brown sugar
  • 1 T. minced onion
  • 1 T. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp. liquid smoke
  • 2 tsp. mustard

Preparation

Step 1

Cook bacon until crisp; remove from pan and set aside.
Saute the onion in the bacon fat until trandsluscent.
Combine all ingredients in casserole dish.
Bake, uncovered, 1 hour at 350 degrees OR microwave on high,
covered, for 13-15 minutes.
