Nancy's Christmas Sugar Cookies

MY NOTES: These cookies taste so good and Jenny and Jason love them but I don't like the fact that they flatten out so much, which is the result, I guess, of using all butter, but it's the butter that gives them such a wonderful flavor.

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 egg
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Preparation
Step 1
Cream together butter, egg and sugar. Add all other ingredients and mix thoroughly. Form into balls and roll in colored sugar - red and green are best. Flatten SLIGHTLY with the bottom of a glass. Bake on UNGREASED cookie sheet for 10-12 minutes in a 350 degree oven.
