Maryland Style Fried Chicken w/Cream Gravey

Ingredients

  • 3 lb chicken pieces, dredged in seasoned flour

Preparation

Step 1

In large skillet cook chicken pieces (I use boneless/skinless) in 3 Tablespoons butter and 3 Tablespoons oil for 5 minutes on each side, uncovered.

Add 1/4 cup water to the pan, cover and steam chicken for 20-25 minutes or until done. Transfer chicken to a platter and keep warm.

Stir 1 Tablespoon flour into drippings and cook for 3 minutes. Stir in 1-1/2 cups scalded milk, whisking until smooth and thickened. Add grated nutmeg, and salt and pepper - to taste.

Serve chicken with mashed potatoes and top with the gravy.
