Chili’s Awesome Blossom

By

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 teaspoons McCormick Season All
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 prepared onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 1/2 cups of flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon coarsely ground pepper

Preparation

Step 1

1. Gather all the ingredients. Combine all the dry ingredients. You can cut the onion to make it look like a blossom by slicing the ¼ part of the onion top, the one with the stem. Afterwards, peel the onion while making sure that the roots are still intact.

2. Cautiously cut the top part of the onion downwards. Make sure to stop when you reach ½” before the root part of the onion making sure that you will not cut the root part.

3. Cut the remaining of the onion similar to a pie into many servings.

4. After you’re done slicing the onions, immerse the onions under cold ice water for about 30 minutes. This will help make sure that the petals of the onions will start to bloom.

5. Drain the onion and soak it in your flour mixture. Make sure to dust it well. Soak the onion again in the buttermilk then back to the flour mixture.

6. Put the onions in heated oil then fry the onions until they turn golden brown. Make sure that the onions are covered thoroughly with the oil.

7. After draining the onions, put it on a plate then slice the center part of the onions to make sure that the petals can be removed easily.
