- 1
Ingredients
- 2 sticks butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1-1/2 tsp vanilla
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1-1/4 tsp baking powder
Preparation
Step 1
Blend butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, mix until just combined. Add the flour and baking powder in intervals. The dough will seem as if it doesn't have enough moisture, but continue to mix with mixer until combined. Shape into disk and wrap in plastic wrap. Put the dough in the refrigerator until firm.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Roll out the dough between 2 sheets of waxed paper. Cut out with cookie cutters and place on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake for 7-8 minutes.
Remove from the oven, letting the cookies cool for a minute before transferring to a wire rack. Allow cookie sheet to cool thoroughly before placing uncooked dough on it. Decorate cookies with royal icing and sprinkles. They can be stored in the freezer undecorated for up to 2 months.
