Cheeseburger Pizza on French Bread

By

"Combine two family favorites--burgers and pizza--in a mouth-watering main dish that goes from start to finish in less than half an hour!"

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread, unsliced, 1 lb
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped, about 1/2 cup
  • 1 jar pizza sauce, 14 oz
  • 1 tomato, seeded, chopped (1 cup)
  • 8 slices bacon, crisply cooked, crumbled
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ........................
  • NOTE: You can also use half mozzarella cheese and half shredded Cheddar cheese. You can use the barbecue sauce of your choice in place of the pizza sauce.

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 400 degrees F.

Cut bread loaf horizontally in half. Cut bread halves crosswise in half to make 4 pieces (to fit on cookie sheet). Arrange on large ungreased cookie sheet; set aside.

In 10-inch skillet, cook beef and onion over medium-high heat 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beef is brown; drain. Stir in pizza sauce. Spread beef mixture over bread. Sprinkle with tomato, bacon and cheese.

Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until pizza is hot and cheese is melted.
