Enjoy this dessert that's cut into squares two ways—first savor the aroma as it bakes, then delight in its sweet and spicy flavors as you eat it.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Bisquick Baking Mix
  • 1/2 cup quick cooking oats
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup firm butter
  • 1 can (16 oz.) pumpkin puree
  • 1 can (13 oz.) evaporated milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 Tablespoon firm butter
  • ..................
  • SPICED WHIPPED CREAM (recipe below)

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix baking mix, oats, 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup butter until crumbly. Press in rectangular pan, 13 x 2 x 2 inches. Bake 10 minutes; cool slightly.

Beat pumpkin, milk, eggs, granulated sugar, salt and spices. Pour over baked layer. Bake 20 minutes. Mix pecans, 1/2 cup brown sugar and 2 tablespoons butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over filling. Bake until set, 15 to 20 minutes. Cool completely. Serve with spiced whipped cream.

TIPS:
Feel like skipping the whipping? Stir grated orange peel and cinnamon into 2 cups of frozen (thawed) whipped topping instead of beating the whipping cream.

Warm caramel topping and a sprinkle of toasted pecans make an over-the-top garnish for this flavor-packed treat.

REVIEWS:

Easy to make, much like a pie/cake...Added little more brown sugar than called for 1/4 cup...so far it is a hit with me!

I made this recipe today, as a practice run. I have to say this recipe was very easy. It's not as sweet as I thought it would be, but once you combine the pecan and brown sugar topping, it's delicious! THIS IS A MUST KEEP RECIPE! I look forward to making this again and again. P.S. DON'T CHANGE ANY ITEMS IN THE RECIPE..
