Georgia's Rum Cake

Ingredients

  • Cake:
  • 1 package Duncan Hines yellow butter cake mix
  • 1 package instant vanilla pudding
  • 1/2 cup light rum
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 4 eggs
  • Glaze:
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup light rum

Preparation

Step 1

Grease and flour a bundt pan. Mix cake ingredients together for 2 minutes, and pour into prepared bundt pan. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes. Remove cake from oven, and immediately pour rum glaze over cake. Cool in pan for 30 minutes, before turning out onto a cake plate.

Glaze: Boil sugar, butter, water and rum in pan for 2 to 3 minutes until the sugar is melted.

*If you're using a cake mix that already has the pudding in it, omit the instant pudding mix.

**Variation...Bacardi Rum Cake
Use 1/2 cup dark rum in cake, and 1/2 cup dark rum in glaze, instead of 1/4 cup.
