Ingredients

  • 1

    tablespoon vegetable oil

  • 1

    onion, minced

  • 3

    garlic cloves, minced

  • 2

    tablespoons chili powder

  • 1

    teaspoon cumin

  • 1

    teaspoon coriander

  • ½

    teaspoon oregano

  • ¼

    teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • salt

  • 1

    lb lean ground beef

  • ½

cup canned tomato sauce (I use Hunt's)

  • ½

    cup low sodium chicken broth

  • 2

    teaspoons cider vinegar

  • 1

    teaspoon light brown sugar

  • 8

    taco shells

Directions

Directions: 1 Heat the oil in a medium skillet over medium heat until simmering. 2 Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. 3 Stir in the garlic, spices, and 1 teaspoon salt. 4 Cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds. 5 Stir in the ground beef. 6 Cook, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink, about 5 minutes. 7 Stir in the tomato sauce, broth, vinegar, and sugar. 8 Simmer until thickened, about 10 minutes. 9 Season with salt to taste. 10 Divide the filling evenly among taco shells and serve, passing any desired accompaniments separately.
