Ingredients

  • 4 slices hickory-smoked bacon
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 large clove garlic
  • 2 tbsp cider vinegar
  • 1 (15.5 oz) can red kidney beans
  • 1 (15 oz) can white cannellini beans
  • 3/4 cup hickory smoked barbecue sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp dry mustard
  • 1/2 tsp hot pepper sauce

Step 1

1. cup bacon into 1/2 inch pieces. In large skillet over medium high heat, cook bacon until crisp. Meanwhile, chop onion and garlic. Remove bacon to bowl. Pour out fat, reserving 1 tbsp in bottom of skillet. Add onion and garlic to skillet. cook, stirring, until onion is translucent, about 3 mins. Meanwhile, drain and rinse beans.
2. Add vinegar to skillet and cook untill almost evaporated, about 5 mins. Add bacon, beans, barbecue sauce, 1/4 cup water, brown sugar, mustard and hopt pepper sauce. Bring to boil and cook, stirring, until slightly thickened and beans are coated in sauce, 2 mins. Transfer to bowl and serve.
