Triple Chocolate Rum Bundt Cake by domesticdiva

I was given this cake as a gift at Christmas one year and it was wonderful!!!

Ingredients

  • Rum Syrup:
  • 1 box dark chocolate or devils food cake mix
  • 1 (4oz) box instant choco. pudding mix
  • 4 eggs
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup dark rum
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 3/4 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup dark rum (myers)

Preparation

Step 1

preheat oven to 350 degrees
generously grease bundt* pan with shortening.
In a large bowl, combine cake mix, pudding, eggs, sour cream, vegetable oil, water, rum and mayonnaise, mix until smooth.
Mix in chocolate chips, pour into pan and bake for 50-55 minutes.
Cool in pan on wire rack. DO NOT REMOVE CAKE FROM PAN.

For rum syrup:
combine butter, sugar, and rum in saucepan and heat until sugar is dissolved.

Poke cake full of holes with wooden skewer. Slowly pour rum mixture over
cake, when all syrup has been absorbed into cake, remove from pan.
Cake is best when made at least 1 day ahead.

* you can also use small individual bundt cake molds for this recipe.
