Ingredients
- Optional:
- 8 oz elbow Macaroni (cook and drain)
- 2 T. Butter
- 1 sm Onion, chopped
- 2 T. Flour
- 2 cup Milk (whole)
- pinch Nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp liquid Chili Sauce (e.g. Tabasco)
- 2 cups plus 1/4 cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese, grated
- Breadcrumbs and butter for topping.
- Additives like: wieners, sausage, lobster, green chile
- May substitute crushed Ritz crackers for breadcrumbs
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350.
Saute onions in butter until translucent.
Stir in Flour, simmer. Remove from heat.
Add milk, nutmeg and chili sauce.
Heat on medium until thickened.
Add 2 cups of cheddar cheese.
Stir until melty.
Add Pasta and mix well.
Pour into greased 8x8 pan. Top with 1/4 cup cheese layer. Top all with breadcrumb/butter topping.
Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes
