FLUFFY WHITE CAKE

Ingredients

  • Sift together:
  • 1/2 cup shortening (half butter)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2-1/2 cups cake flour
  • 2-1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt

Preparation

Step 1

Grease generously and flour two 8" or 9" pans, or 13 x 9" pan.

Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy.

Mix sifted ingredients alternately with 1 cup milk, and 1-1/2 tsp flavoring. Use low speed on mixer.

Fold in: 4 egg whites (1/2 cup) stiffly beaten.

Pour into prepared pans and bake at 350 for 35 to 45 minutes.
