Ground Beef Stroganoff *(GOOD)*

  • 4

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 (4.5 ounce) can mushrooms, drained
  • 2 teaspoon garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 (8 ounce) package wide egg noodles

Preparation

Step 1

1. Bring large pot of water to boil. Cook egg noodles in boiling water until done, about 8 minutes. Drain.

2. Meanwhile, prepare sauce. In large skillet, cook mushrooms and onions in 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat until soft; remove from pan.

3. Using same pan, melt remaining butter. Cook ground beef in melted butter until browned. Mix in flour. Stir in beef broth, and cook until slightly thickened. Add mushroom and onion mixture; stir in sour cream. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

4. Continue cooking until sauce is hot, but not boiling. Serve sauce over egg noodles.

Notes:
When adding the broth add 3 T red wine. Instead of using 1/2 cup sour cream, use 1/4 cup low fat sour cream and 1/4 cup condensed cream of mushroom soup.
