Ingredients

  • One 9-inch refridgerated piecrust, fitted into a 9 inch pie plate.
  • One 1 pound package ground sausage
  • 1 Tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 pound fresh mushrooms sliced
  • 1/2 large Vidalia onion, chopped
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup cottage cheese, 2% or 4% milk fat
  • 3 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • One 8-ounce package shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Crimp the edges of the crust.

In a large skillet , cook and drain the sausage, and set aside. Wipe out the pan, and in the same pan melt the butter over medium-high heat. Add the mushrooms and onion, and sauce for 5 minutes, or until tender.

Place the eggs, sour cream, cottage cheese, flour, Parmesan cheese, and hot sauce in a food processor and process until smooth, stopping to scrape down the sides of the bowl.

Stir together the crumbled sausage, mushroom mixture, egg mixture, and cheddar cheese ans spoon into the piecrust. Cover the edges of the piecrust with aluminum foil to prevent the crust from burning.

Bake for 50-60 minutes, until goldenbrown the center is set. Cool for 10 minutes and cut into 8 wedges.
