Geez - is this cake good!!! We had a guest for dinner the night I made this. The guest ate 2 pieces and took some home with him. The only change I will make the next time I make it (and there will be many more next times!!) is I will double the amount of glaze and make it a bit thicker. The glaze on my first try was a bit thin and alot of it ran off of the cake. I spooned some back on but it would be easier to just make more and have it stay put. This cake is easy and delicious!
My father made a Sock it to Me cake when I was growing up. It was one of our family's favorites. I made Mama Neely's cake and it was like going back into my childhood. This is the best recipe for this cake I have tried. Thank you for making me smile and thank Mama Neely as well :)
I made two of these cakes and brought them to the office today. They were both gone by noon and I got raves from everyone that tasted it. This was a simple cake to make and it was moist and sweet and really wonderful
A great coffee cake. Easy to make and yummy. I had to bake mine about 10 mins longer.
This recipe is pretty much the same as the Duncan HInes Recipe on the Box. It came out very moist! I used a bundt cake pan instead. I didnt add the lemon juice to the glaze. Make sure the cake is Completely cool before drizzling the glaze ...mine kinda melted but it was still there, and still really good. Only thing I would do differently is add more of the pecan streusel maybe double it up because I just love the Pecans in it. Works well for dessert or breakfast. I will definitely make this again !
I made this cake on yesterday (Sunday) and it was just the best. My daughter who is very picky when it comes to sweets just loved it. Took it to the job and it was a hit there too. With all of the holidays coming up I will be doing this recipe on a lot of occasions that call for a dessert.
I agree with a previous poster. This delicious "Sock-It-To-Me Cake was featured as a side box recipe many years ago from the Duncan Hines Moist Deluxe Butter Golden Cake Mix. (I still have the recipe cut from the box). I've always used a 10-inch tube pan to bake this cake; however, a 9 X 12 baking pan works well, too. I normally bake in darker baking pans, so if using them, it's a good idea to adjust the baking temperature to 350 degrees. The overall baking time in my oven was 30 to 35 minutes. If the glaze is too sweet for some, I would recommend using 1 cup of powered sugar, versus 1 1/2 cups. Just remember to use a "Butter Cake Mix." Pillsbury Moist Supreme Golden Butter Recipe Cake is a good one to use.
