Slow Cooker Beef Sirloin Tip Roast
By Addie
Sirloin tip roast is one of three cuts taken from the loin of a cow. It is typically low in fat and weighs 2 to 4 lbs. Sirloin tip roast is a thick cut and does best when placed in low heat for long periods. Slow cooking the roast tenderizes it and allows seasonings to penetrate its surface and flavor the meat near the center. Once prepared, slice the sirloin tip roast and use it for French dips or serve it with your favorite side dish. This recipe serves eight.
Ingredients
- 3 Tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon flour
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 3 lb. beef sirloin tip roast
- 2/3 cup ketchup
- 1 Tablespoon white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 2 Tablespoons minced garlic
- 2 Tablespoons dark molasses
- 2 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
Preparation
Step 1
Pour the vegetable oil into a large skillet and place over medium-high heat.
Combine the flour, salt and pepper in a small bowl. Dust the roast with the mixture from the small bowl and brown all sides in the skillet. Transfer the browned roast to a slow cooker.
Add the ketchup, vinegar, hot sauce, dry mustard, minced garlic, molasses, Worcestershire sauce and chili powder to the skillet. Stir with a wooden spoon until the sauce comes to a simmer. Break up any clumps of the dry ingredients while you stir.
Pour the sauce mixture over the top of the sirloin tip roast and cover the slow cooker. Cook on high heat for two hours and reduce the heat to low. Leave the roast to cook for another six hours before serving.
Tips and Warnings
Never leave leftovers in the slow cooker. Transfer any roast leftovers to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to three days.
