Cinnamon-flavored hard candy in Christmas red!

Ingredients

  • 4 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 5 drops red food coloring
  • 3/4 tsp. oil of cinnamon*
  • *Note: Oil of Cinnamon is usually available at drugstores.

Preparation

Step 1

Combine sugar, water, and syrup in a large Dutch oven. Bring mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Stir in food coloring. Continue to cook, without stirring, until mixture reaches hard crack stage (300 degrees F.) Remove from heat and stir in oil of cinnamon. Working rapidly, spread mixture onto an oiled 15"x10"x1" jellyroll pan. Let cool, break into pieces.
